First of all, let’s get to know this plant. It is not very productive, in our case, we are going to use a small pot, you should put 2 or 3 seeds in the same pot because all of them may not sprout.
We are working with a climbing plant, so we have to introduce a cane system, so that the plant goes tangling on to it. There is no need to tie it to the cane, the plant itself will get tangled on to it.
According to harvest season, the best months are November, December and January. This is because peas don’t like extreme temperatures nor the summer heat nor the winter frosts. The proper condition is a moderate and damp cold, in this sense, the plant does not need excessive watering, it is enough to keep the soil damp, avoiding puddles.
After 3 weeks, the plant must have sprouted. Regarding the recollection, it will come about 4 months after plantation, however, it can vary, so we will feel the pods and when we feel the grains swollen (not too much), that is the time. It is important to collect the pea before sunrise, because the sun makes the flavor worse as it transforms sugar into starch.
Now, we will explain step by step how to plant them.
What do we need?
- Two or three pea seeds
First, we will take the flowerpot and fill it in with soil.
Then, we will put the seeds in the middle of the flowerpot, leaving about one centimeter between them.
We will put our fingers in vertical touching the seeds and introduce them into the soil about 3 centimeters.
Later on, we will fill the created holes in with the surrounding soil and press it a bit.
Finally, we dampen the soil and the growing process will get started.
